Property insurance. Wow, depending on the perils you want to insure, well, I know a couple companies that will insure that, but their starting premiums for property coverage policies are $2500, so that’s not going to help.
Assuming you’re going for business, your best bet is to talk to your business insurance agent, and try to get it added on there.
In this day and age $5,000 isn’t a huge amount for photography equipment as I’m sure you’re aware. I’m no photographer, but my Nikon + lenses would be worth about that, so you shouldn’t really have any problem getting coverage for it. I was going to suggest American Express Travel Insurance, but whilst checking I discovered about the only place they don’t seem to sell travel policies (except health) is the USA …. Go figure !
Anyway… what I did find was that the ‘US Travel Insurance Association’ has a webpage with links to lots of travel insurers (list of members page) on it.
I only looked at one to check it was legit and not some dodgy price comp site but it’s fine and the company I tried (v reputable name) looked like they would cover your kit without any real issue. Obviously it’s worth your while getting a quote from at least 3 companies.
By google to collect some related information or you may try using answer engines like yahoo answer or yedda.com to get some related ideas.nonetheless,If you prefer some direct resource, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/free-online-health-insurance.htm is a good one from my own experience.
I think this is what you need, since it is not so much a travel health plan as it is trip insurance, meaning it would insure the value of your trip and your belongings. I know of 2, and I think the first link is the cheaper plan:
Hello Mary,
Which country are you in. Iffco-Tokio is a good company to be insured with.

By the way, my health insurance covers overseas, but only 30% of what it covers in the US, so check the fine print on your health policy, too!
