Nope! You will have to work out your return flight time with the airline. Most airlines, for a fee, will reschedule your return flight as long as they have open seats.

Travel insurance could care less about your issues. Trust me…if you actually ask what the insurance covers…you will quickly realize that is not even necessary.

check with the airline. They may need to put him in isolation when you get home so whatever he has will not be contagious. Find out what kind of veterinary care he would have while in the custody of the airlines. It may be better to find a good pet boarding facility. We left our two cats in one for a week, and they were fine. Just be sure they don’t keep him caged up for a week. He needs exercise often, and be kept in a clean, dry place. They let us bring in the cats’ favorite blanket to lay in their “condo”. The bathroom area should be separate from where they have to sleep.

I don’t know of any travel insurance policy which allows you to come home from your trip for that reason. However, if you are concerned with possibly canceling your trip (before you leave) because your pet became ill, then there are policies which offer the benefit to cancel your trip for any reason. Since this is not a ‘covered’ reason for cancellation under any policies I am familiar with, then you would need to buy this additional protection. This ‘cancel for any reason’ benefit costs extra and has to be purchased within 15 days of making your first trip payment.

Here is a link to quote this type of policy:
